Property in Puerto Duquesa
Mini guide to Puerto Duquesa
There are many miles and miles of unspoilt scenery stretching away from the coast at Duquesa and into the mountain ranges beyond.

Whatever your interests – golf, sunbathing, shopping or sightseeing – you will find a great deal to keep you occupied in this part of southern Andalucia.
Duquesa has two wonderful stretches of golden sandy beach which stretch out from either side of the port area. Both beaches have plenty of bars and restaurants where you can sample some fresh fish dishes and enjoy the best of beach-living. Many of the beach bars rent out sun loungers for a couple of euros each per day, so you can relax with a book, a cold drink, and enjoy the sunshine.
Take just a short stroll along either of the beaches at Duquesa and you will come across the lively Puerto de la Duquesa, or Duquesa Port, which is the heart of the area.

The pretty marina is filled with more than 300 boats and yachts and is surrounded by pretty white apartment buildings, shops, restaurants, bars and other useful services. There are no cars in the port area itself, so it is a child-friendly place and is great for admiring the boats and just watching the world go by.
As well as being a great place for a coffee and to wander during the day, the port area really comes alive at night too. Come down here after about 8pm and sample the atmosphere when the local Spaniards and the tourists descend on the area to eat at the many international restaurants.
If you are basing yourself in this area then you are within easy driving distance of many of the famous Andalucian white towns such as Casares, Gaucin and Ronda whilst always having the golden sandy beaches of the Mediterranean in sight.
The British colony of Gibraltar is also just a half hour drive away from Duquesa and The Rock gives the area an entirely new and interesting dimension! As well as having an international airport, Gibraltar is a great place to visit if you are missing a touch of Britain. As the area is under British rule, you can spend your pounds there and you will find many well known high street shops including Marks and Spencers, Next, Top Shop, British Home Stores, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Monsoon and there is even a Morrisons supermarket! In addition to being a handy place to stock up on essentials, Gibraltar also has a variety of tourist attractions of its own.

The Rock is home to the only population of wild Barbary apes in the whole of Europe, which wander freely along the cliff tops and roads at the very highest point of Gibraltar. You can take a cable car up to the so called ´ape station´ and see the wild animals for yourself. Just make sure you keep any food out of the way as they are liable to pounce on you if they suspect you are carrying lunch! If you do decide to pay a visit to Gibraltar, make sure you take your passport with you as you will need it to cross the border.
Back in Spain again and Duquesa is extremely popular with golf enthusiasts. There are some excellent quality golf courses in the area immediately surrounding Duquesa. These include such prestigious courses as Valderrama, Sotogrande, San Roque and Alcaidesa, the only links course on the whole of the coast. Within Duquesa itself there is the Duquesa Golf & Country Club, which has an 18 hole course. The club also offers many more sports facilities including a gymnasium, tennis courts and squash courts.
The beautiful beaches combined with the stunning mountains and great facilities make Duquesa a stunning place to visit and to live. As the popularity of the area continues to grow, the town and its surroundings are slowly spreading out and welcoming more residents, more tourists and more facilities.
