The area of Elviria is a small and exclusive residential enclave half way between Marbella and Calahonda. It is approximately 30 minutes drive from Malaga International airport and 10 minutes drive from Marbella town centre in the other direction.

The area of Elviria is very diverse and has many facilities, even though it is relatively small compared to the larger towns such as Marbella and Fuengirola.

Scenery around the Elviria area is very varied too and you can enjoy the countryside views of being high up in the mountains you could be down on the beach sunbathing and taking in the magnificent coastal views.

The whole area around Elviria boasts some of the best stretches of beach along the coast – the water is clear, the sand is fine and golden and the sand dunes can act as fantastic wind breaks if it is a breezy day. They also provide a few hours of great entertainment that the children are sure to enjoy to the full!

Situated along the beach at Elviria are some particularly excellent chiringuitos (seafood restaurants, which often sell a wonderful selection of fresh fish). When you fancy a bite to eat, you can while away many pleasant hours at one of these restaurants. Most of them occupy a section of the beach and have sun loungers and parasols to rent. Great for when you want to roll out of the restaurant and straight onto the beach to soak up the afternoon or evening rays.

The famous and international restaurant and club brand of Nikki Beach opens in Elviria during the summer months – normally it opens at the end of May and closes the first weekend in October. If you like people watching, Nikki Beach is a great place to while away an evening. This is where the bronzed and beautiful people go to socialise with friends and to be seen on one of the trendy white sun beds. A great place to spend an afternoon in the sun while sipping Mojitos or to dance the evening away to the funky Latino house grooves.

Just behind Nikki Beach is one of the Elviria area’s most famous landmarks. The high rise, exclusive, Don Carlos Hotel is easily visible from the main coast road and the hotel also has an adjoining beach club. Resident and visitors can sample the range of cocktails at the poolside bar, while surrounded by cascading waterfalls, tropical palms and the beautiful tantalizing pool. Go there and you are in danger of thinking that you are in heaven! The hotel and beach club offer an excellent standard of service, so much so that David and Victoria Beckham have been known to frequent it regularly.

If you are a golf fan then you will find a number of excellent courses in and around Elviria. The Santa Maria and the Santa Clara golf courses are both excellent and there is also a driving range. You will also find the Rio Real golf course and the Marbella golf club close by. Golf is extremely popular is this area as it is the whole way along the Costa del Sol. If you have never played before and you are not tempted to have a put on any of the beautifully-kept courses surrounding Elviria - then maybe nothing is going to tempt you!

Maybe you are more of a fan of tennis? If so you will find a number of excellent tennis clubs in the area around Elviria. The Marco Tennis Centre and the Hofsas Tennis College are both famous for training some serious tennis talent including former Wimbledon champion Steffi Graf.

The hillside area in Elviria is extremely popular for people who enjoy walking or trekking as it provides some spectacular walks and breathtaking views. Much of the Elviria mountain area is protected and has actually been designated as an area of importance by UNESCO, which has named it a World Biosphere Sanctuary. Although the area is within a short drive of the coast, you can get a real sense of country living in this area.

The restaurant choice in Elviria is also exceptional; Chinese, Indian, Italian, English, French and Spanish restaurants can all be found dotted around the urbanization. The only problem you may have is making up your mind which one to choose!

There are quite a few small supermarkets around Elviria as well as a range of other useful shops; florists, estate agents (including a branch of Andalucian Dream Homes), furniture shops, etc as well as a wide selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. Because of the surprisingly wide range of amenities, Elviria is a great location for living and holidaying.

Elviria is considered a well sought after area, properties here are in high demand and most properties and developments are modern. The range of property on offer coupled with the fantastic beaches and amenities nearby are the reasons why Elviria has acquired such an enviable reputation.

There is a good choice of schools for children of all ages and a great range of sports facilities. Elviria has a fantastic tennis club that provides lessons for all age groups and levels of ability. Twilight tennis is also available for cooler evening matches and it’s a great place to meet up with friends at the bar or restaurant there.

If you like to spend a few hours shopping then the La Canada shopping centre is very close by. As well as shopping the centre has a large new gym and health club. It has a 700m2 work-out room, squash courts, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi facilities, Pilates and a variety of exercise classes.

There are two main hospitals on the coast, one of them is in Malaga and the other one; Hospital Costa del Sol, is only 2km down the road from Elviria, so unfortunately should you need a hospital at any point during your time there, it is very conveniently located.

With Elviria being just a stones throw away from so much activity, it’s easy to see why it is such a firm favourite with holiday makers and residents alike. Whatever your age and whatever your interests, the lovely area of Elviria provides every ingredient for a truly memorable holiday or the perfect home and a fabulous lifestyle.
