Getting to Elviria
Getting to and from Elviria in the car is very easy as it is accessed directly from the N340 / A7 coast road – the lifeline of the coastal region!

If you are travelling from Malaga International Airport then you need to follow the signs towards Cadiz, Torremolinos and Benalmadena. The road will split in two at one point and you will be asked to choose either the A7 on the right hand lane or the AP7 toll road in the left hand lane. It can be confusing as they are both signed Cadiz and Algeciras. They both go in the same direction but the AP7 is the toll road and you will have to pay to drive on it. If you stay in the right hand lanes you will drive via the main A7 / N340 coast road. By taking this route you will drive past Benalmadena, Fuengirola, La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda before you begin to see signs for Elviria.
If you are planning to arrive in Elviria from the west of the coast i.e. from the direction of Gibraltar and Estepona, then you still need to follow the A7 / N340 coast road – but this time you will be following signs for Malaga and Estepona. Once you have passed Estepona you will follow signs towards San Pedro Alcantara and Marbella before you begin to see signs for Elviria.
You also have the alternative of using the new AP7 toll road to get to Elviria as there are exits nearby to both the east (Calahonda exit) and the west (Marbella exit) of the area. You will have to pay to use the toll road but it normally has far less traffic than the main coast road and can cut a considerable time off your journey.
Wherever you are coming from, the Elviria area is clearly signed from the main road in both directions and you will find activities, golf and residential areas on both the beach and the mountainside.

If you are planning to use public transport to get to Elviria then you will need to take a combination of train and bus or bus and / or coach as there are no train services running directly to this area.
You can take the train from Malaga city centre or from Malaga airport but you will need to leave the train at the final stop – Fuengirola – and then catch the M220 bus from Fuengirola. The train journey from Malaga airport to Fuengirola will take around 40 minutes and the bus from Fuengirola to Elviria will take another 30 minutes.
The quickest option to reach Elviria by public transport from Malaga airport is to catch the direct bus service. You can pick up the coach outside the arrivals hall at the airport terminal and it will drop you off at Marbella bus station. The coaches run around every half hour and cost a couple of euros per person. When you reach the bus station you need to catch the M220 bus towards Fuengirola, which stops a number of times on the coast road at Elviria. The journey from Marbella to Elviria takes about 15 minutes on the bus and will cost you less than two euros.

If you are travelling to Elviria on public transport from Gibraltar or Estepona, you need to catch a bus to Marbella centre and then swap to the M220 towards Fuengirola at the bus station.
