Getting to Casares
The journey to Casares is a stunning one, whatever point you are starting out from.

Casares is located approximately 14 kilometres inland towards the western end of the Costa del Sol. It is around 40 minutes´ drive from the international airport at Gibraltar and around an hour from the large international airport at Malaga. Malaga airport is served by a huge range of low cost airlines making Casares easily accessible from anywhere in the world! Once you arrive at Malaga airport, the drive down to Casares is a very pleasant one, especially if you use the new AP7 toll motorway.
If you are coming from Malaga airport, you need to head for signs to the N340 to Cadiz. You will have a choice of driving on either the main coast road, which is known as the N340 or the A7, or the AP7 toll motorway. Despite the fact that you need to pay to drive on the toll road it is worth it – especially when heading down as far as Casares. The toll road has less traffic than the main N340/A7 and it will cut a considerable amount of time off your journey.
Whichever route you take, you will pass by Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona before you arrive in the Manilva area. When you get to this area you will need to take KM 147 between Estepona and Sabinillas and then head inland. This is a drive with absolutely stunning scenery so make sure that you take your time. When you begin to approach the village of Casares you will take a curve in the road and shortly after you will be confronted with a view of the whole village which make a fantastic photo opportunity!

If you plan to head to Casares from Gibraltar or Algeciras, then you need to follow signs towards Manilva and Estepona from the main A7 / N340 coast road.
If you plan to get to Casares using public transport then you will have to take a taxi from either Gibraltar or Malaga airports. There are currently no train or bus services to Casares. You can take a bus from both the Gibraltar and Marbella / Malaga directions as far as Manilva and Estepona, but you will need to switch to a taxi for the remainder of the journey.
If you are travelling from Malaga airport you can take a coach to Marbella bus station and then switch to a bus heading to Estepona, where you can easily find taxis. Otherwise, there are plenty of taxis at both Gibraltar and Malaga airports that will take you straight to Casares.

People who would like to travel to Casares from the centre of Spain can take a train to Algeciras and pick up a local bus or coach heading eastwards to Estepona and then switch to a taxi or a hire car there.
